The Jake behind Jake’s Bagels is Jake Zebley - a full-time video editor by week and your local neighborhood bagel guy by weekend. For Jake, it all started with one question: “Why can’t I find the bagel I’m craving in this incredible food town?”
Essentially having never baked before (let alone bagels), Jake spent four years learning by baking hundreds of bagels while obsessively tweaking each batch to reach “peak bagel”. Along the journey, friends and family started asking how they could get some. Then friends of friends. That’s when he knew it wasn’t just a hobby anymore - this could actually be something. While still working full time during the week, Jake formally established the business to start slinging bagels to the City of Brotherly Love.
Jake’s Bagels implements elements of all major styles of bagels, however, they most closely resemble a New York/New Jersey bagel. No shortcuts or gimmicks. Just a damn good bagel.
There are only five high-quality ingredients (mostly grown and produced in Pennsylvania). Each one is hand-rolled, cold-fermented, and kettle-boiled to make bagels that are crispy-on-the-outside and perfectly chewy-on-the-inside.
Choose your favorite flavor - Plain, Sesame, Everything, Old Bay or the monthly special bagel. Add a cup of house-whipped cream cheese and complete the package with some hot or iced coffee. It’s what Philly deserves™
Jake’s Bagels is ecstatic to call the Culinary Collective home and is looking to partner with local cafes, markets, and businesses for Sunday morning pop-ups around the city.
